Happy Halloween!

Brrr!!

I am looking forward to the premiere of 30 Rock this evening.   Hopefully I can stay awake long enough to see it.

Meanwhile, yay on the below!

I finally broke down and bought a Wii.   I got a great price online and the winter is about to set in so I'm stacking the deck in case I have to hibernate for a bit.   Hey, the winter can get brutal around these parts!

In addition, I bundled it with the Wii Fit.  The Fit accessory is a balance board that plugs into the main unit and some 40+ games that go with it.  A number of people at  my office have it and they all give it rave reviews.    So given the cold, cold winter and my tendancy to bring new definition to "workaholic", I think this will be a welcome bit of distraction.

I'll post back when I receive it and set the whole thing up.   It should be arriving sometime early next week.  I've been oogling it from afar for over a year now, so this is an exciting purchase!

A new low!!  I need to find a happy place.  Here's the current year-to-date change on my 401K.

I adopted Rocco one year ago yesterday while down in Monterey, CA.   Here's the very first picture that I took of him - reposted from one year ago.

At the time his given name (at least by the people at the Humane Society) was "Fabio".   We quickly started calling him everything but that (really, Fabio? C'mon.)  That night he was already responding to Rocky or Rocco and I settled on the latter.  The rest is history.   I really think it's his actual name.

It's been a wonderful year.   Sprout has a best buddy, a brother, and a little friend to play with.   I have two incredibly different, incredibly wonderful little furballs.

I am very tired.    I think work might be catching up with me.    Stress is not a very friendly thing!

The boys on a lazy Sunday morning...

WOW!!   So I decided to flip on the Red Sox game, seeing as how it's the MAKE OR BREAK it game 6 for the Sox.    But TBS - cable network extraordinaire - is apparently having technical difficulties because the GAME IS NOT ON!

Instead, we're being shown a re-run of "The Steve Harvey Show"!  It's like some sort of cruel joke or something.  Luckily I am not such a big Sox fan, but I am sure there are thousands of Game 6 parties going on right now and I can only imagine the conversations that are happening there.   The frustration.  The beer bottles being thrown at TVs. 

WOW.   Can't believe it.   They better fix this soon.   Boston is without a game right now.  

The NBC affiliate out of San Jose, CA (my former locale) has changed their website - and must say it's for the better.   A lot of NBC news stations seem to use a template from Internet Broadcasting Systems.   It's busy and disorganized.

The new NBC Bay Area (as they've re-branded themselves - formerly known as NBC11) website is much more modern and has a logical flow from weather to traffic with easy-to-navigate tabs for different news sections at the top of the page.  

There's also a wap (wireless application protocol) page.   When you browse the site from and iPhone, for instance, it automatically redirects you to a very sharp, very informative version of the site formatted specifically for mobile devices.

When I go to add it to my homepage on the iPhone though, it's missing a native NBC Bay Area icon for the shortcut.   Most mobile sites (in fact, the previous NBC 11 site had it) have one.   Perhaps it's forthcoming.
