Wow, totally floored by McCain's VP pick.   Didn't see that coming at all.   I'm sure it's a direct shot at Obama for not selecting Hillary.   And I'm kind of wondering how stupid the Republican strategists think the female voters of the country are - just because a VP nominee has ovaries does not mean we will automatically vote for her.

I really think this may be first nail in McCain's coffin.   Frankly, the guy is no spring chicken.   He could die in office.   He's cheated death numerous times.   I think Sarah Palin is a tremendous politician and figure, but I don't think she should be second to the throne.   No way, no how.  

This has been an absolutely outstanding year for political news, and I am so fortunate to be living during this time.   It truly is history in the making no matter who wins.  

Crazy week so far. I'm looking forward to a long weekend close to home and then to seeing Journey, Heart, and Cheap Trick in concert next week in Manchester, NH! Should be an excellent show!

CVS announced today that it would buy Longs Drugs for almost $3 billion.   When I was living in California I often remarked how I missed CVS (as drugs stores go, it's just better than Longs or Rite Aid).  

There are hundreds of Longs in California, so it will be interesting to see them all turn to CVS.  A similar thing happened last year when Sports Mart converted to the Sports Authority (another place I remembered from the East Coast).

The next time I visit California (likely later this year) and have to stop by a drug store it'll probably be a CVS!

Interesting news coming out of Maryland today.   A tractor trailer was involved in a crash early this morning on the eastbound span of the Chesapeake Bay bridge and while this may sound unremarkable, the truck struck the guard rail and actually fell into the Bay.  

As of this posting there are no pictures so I don't have a good idea of where on the bridge the accident happened (the bridge is much higher at its middle point).

Crazy busy at work. I seem to run between offices constantly these days.

Looking forward to a day or two off next weekend. Haven't decided if I want to attend my 10 year high school reunion (also that weekend).
